How much does FLAME-SIM cost?
FLAME-SIM costs $1599.00 per seat. A seat of software includes the software, a security dongle, and a controller and is equal to one user operating in the simulation. If you want to have four users operating FLAME-SIM at the same time (either in the same environment or separately) you would need to have four seats.
What does this application run on?
FLAME-SIM is a software application designed to run on PC. The minimum specifications for the PC are below:
- 2.66 gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- Windows XP Professional (SP2); Windows Vista Business or higher; Windows 7 Professional or higher
- 2GB RAM
- Video Card: 512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 440 or ATI Radeon® HD 3670 or better
- 2 active USB ports (Controller and Security Dongle)
- DVD drive
- LAN connectivity between stations for multi-users (100 MB connection)
- A minimum of 6GB of storage space on the hard drive
How many users can operate in the same environment?
FLAME-SIM can accommodate up to ten individuals operating in the same environment with up to 20 additional computer controlled characters. The users in the scenario must act as command on scene as computer controlled characters will only execute orders; they will not give orders.
How do the PC's communicate with each other in multi-user scenarios?
The PC's communicate with each other over a LAN. Bandwidth is easily accommodated with a 100Mb switch/connection.
Are there licensing costs for FLAME-SIM?
No, there are no licensing fees charged for FLAME-SIM. When you purchase the software that version is yours to use without limitation.
Does FLAME-SIM teach us how to fight a fire?
FLAME-SIM was designed to give firefighters a virtual environment in which to train using their own department's procedures. While FLAME-SIM does track 59 actions, orders and reports derived from the NFPA standards, the intention of the software is to allow the Chief and Training Officer the ability to train their departments' procedures on the fireground.
